    • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
(Dry Chickpea instructions at bottom of recipe
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • Optional seasonings (such as garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, or your favorite spice blend)
  2. Instructions:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
    • Spread the drained and rinsed chickpeas on a clean kitchen towel in a single layer. Let them air dry for about an hour (this step is crucial for crispiness).
    • In a medium bowl, toss the dried chickpeas with olive oil and salt. Add any additional seasonings you like.
    • Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket, spreading them out as much as possible.
    • Cook for 12 minutes, shaking the basket 2 or 3 times during cooking to ensure even crisping.
    • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Enjoy your crispy air fryer chickpeas! They’re perfect for snacking, salad toppers, or just as a guilt-free treat. 😊🍽️

For more flavor variations, you can experiment with different spices like cumin, smoked paprika, or even a touch of cayenne pepper

Making Fresh Chickpeas

Chickpeas in white bowl
  1. Soaking Chickpeas:
    • Sort through the beans to remove any stones or debris.
    • Place the chickpeas in a large bowl and cover them completely with cold water.
    • Allow them to soak overnight (about 12 hours). You can add a teaspoon of baking soda to aid the process, but plain water works well too.
    • Alternatively, for a quicker soak, rinse the chickpeas, cover with water, bring to a boil, cook for 1 minute, then let them soak for 1 hour.
  2. Cooking Chickpeas:
    • Drain the soaked chickpeas and transfer them to a large cooking pot.
    • Cover with water (twice the amount of chickpeas) and bring to a boil.
    • Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for approximately one hour.
    • Taste test to ensure they’re tender enough.
    • Drain and allow to cool for 15 minutes.
